I specialise in analytical, numerical and experimental investigations of a wide range of structural engineering systems and materials. I have numerous years' experience conducting research both in academic and industrial contexts, having also worked as a subsea pipeline analyst in the offshore industry and a structural engineering consultant in the private sector. I currently manage a number of commercial partnerships between LSBU and engineering firms and construction manufacturers, developing innovative real-world solutions.

My research interests include 3D-printed structural components, steel structural mechanics, glass-polymer structural composites, timber engineering, structural fire safety and design, metallic foams and structural reliability. To date, I have published articles in leading high-impact journals and presented at a variety of international conferences on structural mechanics, stability, computational analysis and composite structures.

I regularly conduct a range of commercial testing activities with clients from the construction and building materials industries, raising revenue for LSBU; these activities include a variety of structural qualification testing in addition to fire safety certification testing. I hold a patent on an innovation currently under development at LSBU for a fire safety system for ventilated cladding panels.

I manage a portfolio of SME partnerships within the Sustainable Innovation funding scheme at LSBU, helping local entrepreneurs to bring their local carbon solutions for the built environment to market-readiness.
