I’m a paediatric pharmacist with over 30 years’ experience in primary, secondary and tertiary care across London. During this time, I have held various senior roles at Whipps Cross University Hospital and at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. In addition, I’ve been a guest lecturer on the LSBU Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) course since its inception in 2003, subsequently joining the NMP academic team in 2016. I am now Associate Professor Pharmacotherapeutics, teaching on the adult and paediatric NMP modules. As well as contributing to the overall programme, I am responsible for preparing and co-ordinating the pharmacology exam.
I have continued to maintain links with Bart’s Health NHS Trust and cover occasional shifts for the paediatric pharmacy team. Other external links include being a committee member of the Neonatal and Paediatric Pharmacists Group (NPPG) where I regularly contribute to their education, training and research agendas. I also now lead the NPPG Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Sub-group.
Apart from the NPPG, I have worked with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). I have been a member of the GPhC Standard Setting Panel since 2015. This panel is responsible for standardising the pharmacist pre-registration exam in the UK. More recently I became a Director at the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association.
