I joined LSBU in 2019, where I am a Lecturer in Town Planning in the School of Law and Social Sciences. I was originally trained as an Architect and Town Planner in Italy and I was awarded a PhD by the Bartlett School of Planning, UCL, researching land use and transport integration and the funding of public transport infrastructure through land value capture. Before and during the PhD I accumulated 17 years of work experience as a researcher and town planning and property development consultant. I am a qualified Architect and a Royal Town Planning Institute Chartered Town Planner.

I am passionate about integrated planning because I believe it is crucial in delivering urban sustainability. For my PhD research, I used two theoretical frameworks, namely land use and transport integration on the one hand and land policy and value capture on the other, which underpinned the policies I studied. The systemic complexity of this kind of triple-integrated processes (land use planning, transport planning and value capture policy) is my main research focus. Within land use and transport integration, I am particularly interested in Transit Oriented Development with its urban form and urban design implications.

My recent research projects include the study of the funding of the Northern Line extension to Battersea Power Station in London using value capture.
