I am a chartered architect, educator and adjudicator. I have worked in the private sector for over 25 years, and have extensive design and construction experience across a wide range of project and business sectors in the UK, Europe, the Middle and Far East.

One of my key objectives in establishing my own architectural practice, gal.com, was to inform and strengthen the connections between professional activities and academia. The work of the practice continues to include architectural education, architectural projects and dispute resolution.

I participate regularly in University architectural education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

At LSBU, I am the Course Director Professional Practice Part 3. I have previously been Head of Professional Practice Studies at the Architectural Association in London and Part 3 Course Director at the University of Brighton.

I have extensive experience of online and blended delivery, examination and monitoring of Part 3 courses.

Currently, I am Part 3 External Examiner for RIBA North and London Metropolitan University. I have previously been Part 3 External Examiner for Cambridge, Westminster and Birmingham City Universities, and for the Architectural Association and Dublin Institute of Technology.

I am a member of the RIBA Validation Panel, maintaining and improving standards in architectural education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the UK and overseas.

Architectural work

I have been involved with urban design and master planning projects, and my experience includes large scale residential and mixed use developments in London, and large scale residential university accommodation in Bahrain and Oman. Other work includes retail and commercial developments in the UK and Middle East, and a Mosque for 2000 worshippers in the Middle East.

In the UK, I have extensive experience of high-end residential developments for private corporate and individual clients, and projects have been designed and completed in Kensington, Holland Park, Grosvenor Square, Hampstead, north and south-west London and the home counties.

Dispute resolution

I have been involved in construction dispute resolution since 1998, and am a member of the RIBA Panel of Construction Adjudicators, regularly acting as adjudicator. I am currently participating in a research project into UK adjudication at Kings College.
