I am a registered Health Psychologist combining experience of clinical practice, quality improvement and research. I have a BSC (Hons) in Psychology, a Masters Degree in Health Psychology, a PhD in Psychology and a PG Cert in Health Psychology Practice. I moved to LSBU in 2016 from the University of Surrey, where I am a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Psychology conducting research, teaching on the Health Psychology module and supervise Masters students.

My research interests centre around behaviour change in chronic illness, specifically obesity, diabetes and mental health. I have conducted and published much research investigating eating behaviours (e.g. binge eating and emotional overeating) in patients undergoing bariatric surgery for weight loss, as well as around the role of the Health Psychologist in bariatric services.

I primarily design, deliver and evaluate large trials (process evaluations using mixed methods) and my most recent work have evaluated the Allen Carr's Easyway to stop smoking, Mental Health First Aid in the workplace, and identity transitioning in patients undergoing bariatric surgery.

My current role involves evaluating an artificial intelligence system for appointment management in the NHS. Other projects I am currently involved in include evaluating a NICE approved diabetes structured education programme for patients with Type 2 diabetes, testing the efficacy fo a minimally invasive glucose monitoring device (feasibility), cross-addiction in patients post bariatric surgery for weight loss and evaluating a service to reverse the escalating rates of child obesity and its long-term impact on chronic disease, through improved dietary quality.
