I am a Senior Lecturer in the Education Division at London South Bank University. I have a PGCE in Primary Education from the University of Plymouth and an MA Education from LSBU.

Prior to joining LSBU I gained extensive experience as a Primary Teacher in the UK and overseas and held senior leadership roles in two inner London schools. At LSBU, I am the Course Director for the BA (Hons) Education degree and I teach and supervise trainee teachers on the PGCE primary course. I teach on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules with a focus on inclusion and my subject specialisms in primary education are English and PSHE. I am also a co-convenor of the LSBU Education for Social Justice Research Group. My research interests are focused on the educational experiences of vulnerable pupils, including children who are looked after, children who have been excluded from mainstream schools and/or those at risk of exclusion and children who experience poor mental health and trauma. In my most recent research, I looked at the factors which affect schools in supporting children who experience familial imprisonment with the aim of providing suggestions and ways forward for inclusive practice. I have links with several charities that work to support the children and families of those involved in the criminal justice system. I have also been involved, as a co-facilitator, in two Learning Together projects, which brought together students from LSBU and people in prison to study a module on the theme of Education for Social Justice within HMP Pentonville and HMP Brixton.
