I joined LSBU in 2017 in my role as Professor of Mental Health. I am a mental health nurse by professional background and was Director of Mental Health Nursing at the Department of Health (England) from 2005 to 2008. I subsequently worked as Director of Nursing and as a Non Executive Director in various NHS Trusts for ten years. I am currently Consultant Editor for 'Mental Health Practice' journal.

My long term research interests include new roles for health care staff, international mental health services and mental health crisis care. Current interests include non-medical prescribing and the use of technology in inpatient services.
