I am a Senior Lecturer and leader of the Brain, Mind and Behaviour group in the Division of Psychology at London South Bank University. I am also Course Director for the BSc Psychology (Clinical) course.

I am a cognitive neuroscientist with a primary expertise in EEG. After obtaining my PhD from Goldsmiths, I carried out post-doctoral research at Goldsmiths, Caltech, and the University of Cambridge. My main research interests are in the areas of music psychology and the role that music plays in different areas of our lives.

I have a long-standing interest in understanding the processes that underpin commonalities between music and language, as well as how music influences other domains. For example, I have worked with colleagues to investigate how music may influence perception of fairness, risk-taking, and more generally social decision making (with Dr Claudia Civai). Thanks to my expertise in music psychology and neuroscience, I have collaborated on projects with economic and societal impact, such as evaluating music perception in orchestra musicians under different acoustic environments (Prof Steve Dance; Dr Eric Ballestero), and the use of music in care settings (Memory Tracks). I am currently an academic consultant at Kouo, a start up company that aims to use neuroscience to improve wellbeing using wearable technology.
