I am the Course Director for Commercial Management (Quantity Surveying), and Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying at LSBU. Prior to this role, for over 25 years, I managed several projects working in the industry as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, rising to the position of Commercial Manager. I worked with construction organisations, real estate developers, and Quantity surveying consultancy firms in the UK and abroad to provide cost assurance and ensure project/programmes are delivered on time within the stipulated cost and quality compliance.

RESEARCH

I am passionate about commercial management of projects, cost control/assurance and mega Infrastructure/construction project procurement. I am a member of IDoBE (Integrated Delivery of the Built Environment) research centre. My research focuses on the following areas: Built Environment, Commercial Management, Procurement, Cost Management, Infrastructure Management and Mega/Complex construction project management.

My research is based on the following research areas:

-Construction Project Management

-Procurement - Techniques and Processes

-Construction Contract Administration

-Quantity Surveying/Construction Cost Management

-Construction Economics/Design Economics

-Mega Infrastructure/Project procurement and management vis-a-vis Delay and Cost Overrun.

- Quantity Surveying consultancy.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

I am a Fellow member of the Higher Education Academy, Chartered Cost Engineers (MAcostE), Chartered Construction Manager (MCIOB) and Chartered Civil Engineer Surveyors (MCInstCES). I have published in high-quality journals and conferences and chaired some international academic conferences, and am currently a reviewer in three major international journals. Findings from my research have helped to influence policy in the House of Commons Transport Committee (2021) Major Transport Infrastructure Projects, Second Report of Session 2021-22, House of Commons, London, p. 5. I am a Member of the Construction, management, economics, and integrated delivery research group in the School of Built Environment and Architecture, Division of Construction, Property and Surveying, one of the largest in the UK specialising in the built environment.
