I have over 35 years of personal, academic, and professional knowledge and experience of railway systems, with an interest in the operation and multi-disciplinary management of railway infrastructure and its interfaces with its environment. I am a Member of the Institute of asset Management (MIAM) and the Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET).

My research includes the gathering and analysis of legal, engineering, town and country planning, archive, and project data for use within railway project and asset management and the sharing of that data across railway based organizations and with their external stakeholders.

Where my research includes:

- analysis of the legal, historical, land use planning, and engineering interfaces between railway-based systems and their environment;

- the short and long-term effects of these interfaces on the railway and their environment (100+ years);

- the effective management of project and asset data for the whole-life presence of railway infrastructure within its environment; and

- the development of processes to gather and share data more effectively.
