I am a Professor of Mathematical Methods for Economics, Finance and Operations Research at LSBU. I am also affiliated to Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.

I am member of the scientific committee of the PhD program "Quantitative Methods for Economic Policy” at the University of Macerata.

I was also a review panel expert in the COST Action Proposal Submission, Evaluation, Selection and Approval procedure (2017-2019).

I have published over 100 scientific articles, most of them in international journals. I regularly participate in international conferences as an invited speaker. I have several editorial assignments. I was member of several research projects.

My community of reference is that of mathematicians and statisticians applied to economics, finance and social sciences. My research approach follows two main routes. By one side, I develop and study theoretical models whose background is operational research, stochastic optimization, statistical modelling, applied probability and game theory. By the other side, I deal with extensive data analysis and simulations in the context of rank-size theory, time series explorations, econophysics and complex networks. Often, such approaches are merged in a unified scientific product, where theoretical advancements are validated through empirical analysis or numerical simulations.

The rather interdisciplinary nature of my research allows me to discuss with a broad set of scientists; in so doing, I can connect people coming from different research fields and foster scientific collaborations.

My results are presented in seminars and conferences targeted on applied mathematics, economics, finance and statistics.

I am affiliated to several scientific communities, like the Association of the European Operational Research Societies (https://www.euro-online.org/web/pages/1/home), the Euro Working Group of Commodities and Financial Modeling (https://www.euro-online.org/web/ewg/8/ewg-cfm-euro-working-group-on-commodities-and-financial-modelling), the ESG International Research Group, the Granem Laboratoire at the University of Angers, France (http://granem.univ-angers.fr/fr/acces-directs/presentation.html).
