I joined London South Bank University (LSBU) in May 2020, where I am a professor of project management and construction in the School of the Built Environment and Architecture (SBEA) and the school’s Postgraduate Research (PGR) Director. Before joining the school, I was the programme director for construction project management at the University of Salford. I also held academic posts at Northumbria University and the University of Newcastle. I originally studied Civil Engineering as a first degree at the University of Nigeria, MSc (DIC) in Concrete Structures at Imperial College London, followed by a PhD in Construction Management from LSBU.

My research interests and expertise focus on several interrelated themes central to construction management, such as the application of digital technologies in urban simulation, negotiation, and collaboration to facilitate procurement decision-making in the supply chain, knowledge management in improving the procurement and performance of construction projects and modern construction management techniques and sustainable development. I have a broad background in conducting multi-disciplinary research involving many research teams in urban/building simulation and project management. My research-driven career within higher education spans more than 18 years. I have contributed to four books and more than 100 international journals and conference publications. I have also supervised over seven PhD students and examined over 25 candidates.

I have significant engagement with the industry as part of various initiatives to strengthen the link with the industry and for professional development. My external engagement involves fostering relationships with key external partners and professional organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM) to elevate the school's profile. I joined ARCOM in 1998 and became an elected committee member in 2009. As a committee member, I have contributed to organising the annual ARCOM conferences, and as a workshop's convenor, I have organised national and international doctoral workshops. I am also a UKRI AHRC and EPSRC Peer Review College member.

Senior Lecturer
Northumbria University, UK

The role gives me a platform for enhancing academic activity in construction project management within the School alongside other built environment disciplines supporting teaching and learning activity across a range of programmes and modules such as production management, planning and programming, resource management, building information modelling, lean construction and health and safety. I also engage in study programmes of the School, which are delivered in international markets. I am also involved in scholarly research activities - preparing research proposals, contributing to income generation activities through research/consultancy, participating in national/international conferences, publishing research findings in other mediums, and supervising PhD research, master's and undergraduate dissertations

Research Associate
University of Newcastle, UK

As a Research Associate at Newcastle University (2003 – 2005), my research position involved doing some teaching and tutorials. I taught Project Management and Information Technology in Construction to Architectural postgraduate students. My experience here was precious as I could use my research to inform my teaching.

As a Research Associate at Newcastle University (2003 – 2005), I was involved in a project sponsored by the EPRSC, titled “Capture and Reuse of Project Knowledge in Construction” (CAPRIKON). The objective was to establish a methodology for the ‘live’ capture of reusable project knowledge in the construction industry that reflected both the organisational and human dimensions of knowledge capture and reuse, as well as exploit the benefits of technology. The CAPRIKON project was completed within two years by the team, and we achieved a book publication on “Capture and reuse of project knowledge in Construction”, which has been highly recommended for construction industry professionals and research by experts.
