I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law and Social Sciences, having joined LSBU as a Lecturer in 2020. I previously studied at both Northumbria University and the University of York and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2016. I teach various modules within the Law Division, primarily focusing on areas of criminal law, sentencing and punishment, and tort law.
My research explores legal and non-legal forms of responsibility, including how the law shapes and is shaped by social issues, such as the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the emergence of new online technologies. I am also particularly interested in issues surrounding sentencing and the punishment of offenders.
My PhD thesis was entitled "Deception and Disclosure: A Socio-Legal Analysis of HIV Transmission Offences and Mobile Dating Applications" and explored how HIV disclosure on online mobile dating applications offers new ways to look at the criminalisation of HIV transmission in England and Wales.
I also write on broader LGBTQ+ issues in law, including work on international LGBTQ+ rights and equality in Higher Education.
I am an Editorial Assistant with the International Journal of Gender, Sexuality and Law and Social Media Editor with The Law Teacher: The International Journal of Legal Education. I have published in the Journal of Criminal Law, Information and Communications Technology Law and Policy Reviews in Higher Education.
