Muhammad Alam (S’10-M’14-SM’17): I received Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from University of Aveiro, Portugal (2009-14). In 2009, I joined the Instituto de Telecomunicações - Aveiro (Portugal) as researcher and completed Ph.D. from University of Aveiro with a specialization in Inter Layer and Cooperative Design Strategies for Green Mobile Networks. Currently, I am working as Senior lecturer in Smart Cities and secure systems (IoT) at London South Bank University, London, UK.

My research interests include Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), IoT, Real-time wireless communication, Vehicular networks, Context-aware systems and Radio resource management in next generation wireless networks. I participated in several European Union FP7 projects such as Hurricane, C2POWER, ICSI, PEACE and Portuguese government funded projects such as SmartVision. I served as technical project manager of “Real-time location-aware road weather services composed from multi-modal data” EU funded project and workpackage leader in ICSI and C2POWER projects funded by European Union.

I worked as senior researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações for more than 8 years and participating in European Union and Portuguese government funded projects. In 2017, I joined Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), Suzhou as Assistant Professor in Computer Science. Currently, I am working as Senior lecturer in Smart Cities and secure systems (IoT) at London South Bank University, London, UK.

I served as guest editor for several reputed journals such as IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transpiration systems, Springer’s Mobile Networks and Applications, and MDPI’s information journal. I am the authors of more than 50 Journal paper, 40 conferences papers and 10 book chapters. Currently, I am serving as an associate guest editor of 4 reputed journals (2021). I served as general co-chair of future 5V conference and served as session chairs in a number of reputed conferences such as IEEE IECON 2016, IEEE WFCS 2016, IEEE ITSC 2015. I am IEEE senior member and Fellow of Higher Education Academy.
