I joined LSBU in 2021 as a Research Associate in the School of the Built Environment and Architecture. I am also an industry consultant with 8 years of experience in the building industry, with a specialty in Building Physics and Sustainability. I completed my studies as an Environmental Engineer in Greece, followed by an MSc in Sustainable Energy at the Technical University of Denmark.
My interest in developing healthy indoor environments for people with consciousness of their environmental impact has drawn my focus in the areas of analysing thermal comfort, daylight conditions and energy performance through modelling, as well as combining thermal performance with airflow through CFD analyses. This interest has also led me to work as a researcher on indoor air quality and ventilation, at a time when the pandemic sparked a need to expand our knowledge in the field.
For the past year, I have been working on the AIRBODS (Airborne Infection Reduction through Building Operation and Design for SARS-CoV-2) research programme, funded by UKRI, with a multi-discipline team from a total of six universities and one consultancy. AIRBODS is supporting the global research initiative that the pandemic brought and is expected to have a lasting impact on the understanding and mitigation of indoor virus transmission risk.
Lastly, I am a CIBSE Chartered Engineer (CEng MCIBSE) and a BREEAM Assessor. I recently co-authored a CIBSE publication on simple blinds (expected to be published in Q4 of 2022).
