I joined LSBU in 2021, where I am Lecturer in Town Planning in the School of Law and Social Sciences - Division of Urban, Environment and Leisure Studies. I completed my MA in Urban and Regional Planning at the IUAV University of Venice (Italy), followed by a PhD in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the University of Hull.
My research interests are in the geographies of port and coastal cities, port-city relationships, culture-led urban regeneration, cultural and sporting mega events and their socio-spatial and symbolic outcomes on host cities. My first book on urban regeneration driven by mega events in port cities was published by Routledge in 2022.
From 2019-2021, I have taken part in the JPICH-funded project "Heritage Opportunities/threats within Mega-Events in Europe" (HOMEE), which involved architects, planners, social scientists, heritage practitioners and policy makers from across Europe. The project led to the Charter for Mega-events in Heritage-rich Cities.
