I joined LSBU Business School in 2022 as a Senior Lecturer in Project Management. I have worked in a number of universities in the UK over the past 15 years lecturing in the fields of Engineering Management, Operations and Project Management.
My research areas of interest include energy usage optimisation, operations improvement, MIS/ERP systems deployment and in simulation modelling of aspects such as operations and energy/waste flow. I like solving real life problems that affect businesses and industries that need an expertise in Engineering and Management.
I have a strong interest in the application of theoretical work in solving real life problems that industry faces. Over the past 10 years I have attracted over £586k of research funding to carry out industry and knowledge transfer projects.
I have worked with the Ford motor company in collaboration with partners such as the High Speed Sustainable Manufacturing Institute (HSSMI) to reduce energy consumption via the smart management of use of production lines and ancillary systems. This involved integrating the operations and energy model via discreet event modelling and other analytical approaches, giving rise to over 40% savings in energy usage.
I have the expertise to project manage and provide consultancy on the deployment of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/ Management Information Systems (MIS) in industry and have several successfully completed projects to my record.
Another area of my expertise is in the development and optimisation of manufacturing simulation models, using discrete element modelling packages such as Lanners WITNESS. I have worked on a number of such projects with the likes of the Ford motor company.
Further more I have been involved in the development of simulation models integrated with the companies ERP system to provide a predictor-corrector system to highly optimise the capability of the operations management systems. This work was carried out with Ford and ultimately improved with energy constraints to improve the sustainability elements.
I am a keen believer in educating and training people to make best use of the systems they already have in place and have saved millions for business by providing consultancy and training in how best to utilise their existing infrastructure and how best to optimise their processes to achieve the desired objectives.
