I trained as a registered nurse at Bedford College of Nursing and qualified in 1990. After working in elderly care, then for eight years in oncology, I moved into primary care as a practice nurse. I qualified as a non-medical prescriber in 2007 and continued my studies, qualifying as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in 2011 and obtaining my MSc in 2013. I joined the non-medical prescribing team in January 2014 and I'm now the module lead and Associate Professor. I gained my PhD, "What are the practices and experiences of non-medical prescribers in the UK?" early in 2024.
