I joined LSBU as a Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing in 2012, having previously worked at the University of West London as Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing. I am Head of Division for Children's and Community Nursing within the School of Health and Social Care at LSBU. I qualified from St Bartholomew's School of Nursing and Midwifery in 1993 as a Registered General Nurse and in 1996 as a Children's Nurse. Since qualifying, my clinical experience has been general paediatrics and Paediatric Intensive Care, within the NHS. I am a member of the Institute's research ethics committee.
My research interests are in nurse education both within the university and clinical settings. My doctoral research was in "The perceptions and experiences of pre-registration nursing students with dyslexia of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination". Recently I worked on a joint research project with a partner Trust looking at alternative placement learning for student nurses.
I continue to work within clinical practice and hold an honorary position on PICU at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust where I support and develop clinical practice through teaching and learning in practice.
