I am a senior lecturer in adult nursing and the course director for cardiac nursing. I joined LSBU in 2013 part-time while working in the NHS as a cardiology specialist nurse. I am a registered nurse (adult) and have a broad experience that includes medical, surgical and critical care nursing. In 2020, I left my NHS job to work full time at LSBU. I have a BSc (Hons) in critical care nursing from Kings College London, and an MA in practice education from LSBU. I am an NMC Teacher and Independent Nurse Prescriber. I am a fellow of the HEA.
My areas of particular interest include cardiac nursing, arrhythmia management and ECG interpretation. I also have a keen interest in anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology. I have led the post-registration cardiac programme at LSBU since 2013, developing several new modules and updating the existing provision. More recently, I have increased my involvement in the teaching of pre-registration nurses, and currently lead the applied physiology module on the PGDip/MSc in Adult Nursing programme.
I have published a variety of articles on cardiac nursing topics, including a series on ECG interpretation, as well as the arrhythmia management chapter of a critical care textbook. I have also collaborated in the development of online education resources for topics including cardiac monitoring, ECG interpretation, and the management of medical emergencies. I am a consultant editor to the British Journal of Cardiac Nursing.
