I have over 25 years experience as a registered occupational therapist working in a range of clinical, managerial and educational roles in the UK, Ireland and the Middle East. I completed my undergraduate pre-registration BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy at Trinity College, Dublin, a postgraduate MSc Occupational Therapy at Brunel University and I am currently studying for a PhD at LSBU. I have been employed as a senior lecturer at the university since 2011 and am currently the Course Director for the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy courses (part-time and apprenticeship) in the Division of Occupational Therapy.
My research interest which I am investigating through my PhD focuses on occupation as experienced by young women living with and beyond primary breast cancer. As a woman living beyond a cancer diagnosis, I am passionate about investigating and revealing cancer survivorship experience that has received limited attention in literature to date despite the prominence of the cancer agenda. My research employs a hermeneutic phenomenological methodology informed by Gadamerian philosophy and will employ photo-elicitation methods.
