I currently hold the strategic roles of NMC Lead Midwife for Education (LME) and Head of Division at LSBU, showcasing a wealth of experience in the field of Education with a specialized focus on Emergency Management and professionalism. I previously worked in the National Health Service, as a registered midwife since 1999 at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, after which I moved to BHRUT in 2002. Practice has always been driven by seeking innovative ways to improve women's health and provide safe and effective care. I bring a unique blend of clinical expertise and leadership skills to the roles.
I have earned a master’s degree, conducting research on “How to be an effective Scribe in an obstetric emergency: A student midwives’ perspective”. I have presented my findings at events, including the 5th European Midwifery Association Conference and Bournemouth University. This active participation in conferences had the potential to influence curriculum content based on evidence-based recommendations.
I have successfully completed the Aurora Leadership Programme contributing to the broader professional community. This has been achieved by reviewing several key textbooks pertinent to Midwifery Education and Practice such as Mayes Midwifery and Myles Textbook for Midwives.
My leadership journey is marked by a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse midwifery community, both in education and practice. My contributions to the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Decolonisation Toolkit and strategic partnerships underscore my dedication to shaping the future of midwifery, ensuring it aligns with the highest standards of professionalism and inclusivity.
My external activities include partnership working with several memberships’ groups such as, the NHSE Senior Ethnic minority Midwifery expert reference group, NHSE Midwifery Placement Assurance group, Lead Midwife for Education strategic Reference group and External Examiner to other Universities. These collaborations enable me to enhance Midwifery education at LSBU.
