I joined LSBU in September 2019 and am currently working as Course Director on the BA (Hons) Fashion Media programme, and as Senior Lecturer on the BA Fashion Promotion with Marketing and Fashion Communication programmes.
My professional background spans visual communication, with particular focus on photography, fashion curation, creative direction and self-publishing.
I have curated exhibitions in Japan, China, Armenia, Romania and the UK (working with the Barbican, British Library, British Council, British Fashion Council, and the V&A Museum).
My teaching practice embraces the changing dynamic of the fashion industry as a co-producer; exploring the opportunities for interdisciplinary practices.
BROTHERS IN ARMS?
This research project is about understanding the power and intensity of sibling relationships; in this case brother-brother relationships. It is about whether being raised in a Greek Patriarchal society particularly engenders rivalry and conflict between brothers and the resulting consequences these influences have on their life choices. The push-pull of good brother/bad brother, Cain & Abel; what can we all learn from this?
It is a journey through a familial landscape to confront and contest a societal structure of male supremacy and domination that operates at the expense of not only women, but also any minority deemed either not ‘masculine’ or ‘white’ enough. This queer narrative begins with me but extends to you and them.
It is part of human nature that we are all impaired to some degree by the dysfunction of family relationships. Whilst we often cite the parents’ role in our upbringing as the origin of this, it is often the strength and intensity of the sibling bond that determines how constructive, or indeed in this research, how destructive, that relationship is, and which unto itself, manifests the dysfunction.
