Daniela is an experienced registered nurse, academic, researcher and faculty coach/mentor. Her academic work includes course leadership, authorship, and teaching of national and international courses in mental health, some of which were commissioned by WHO Europe, NHS England and NHS Trusts Her research interests are in Social Justice and Mental Health, Digital Diversity, Equity Pedagogies, Leadership, Interprofessional Education, Mental Health and Substance Use, Technology Enhanced Learning and Conversational Artificial Intelligence and Therapeutic Interventions in Healthcare.

My main responsibilities were course director for the Mental Health Nursing and CPD in Mental Health Nursing training provision. I line managed academic staff in the Mental Health Faculty (devolved leadership responsibility by the HoD/academic chair). I led the development of professional programmes, mainly the MSc/PGDip Mental Health Nursing, MSc Mental Health and MSc Mental Health and Substance Use programmes, including the MSc in Dual Diagnosis by distance education.

My other roles and responsibilities involved programme and module leadership and teaching, mainly for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice, MSc Mental Health and Substance Use (Dual Diagnosis), MSc Mental Health Studies, PGCert Leadership and Quality Improvement. Professional Lead for Mental Health.

Achievements (not an extensive list):

Led the successful revalidation of two professional programmes, the BSc Mental Health Nursing and the PGDip Mental Health Nursing programmes, coproduced with service users, partner organisation and other faculty members. In 2020-2021, worked with the Middlesex University Policy Development Group on the Suicide Postvention Policy with stakeholders.

2016-2019 I coached/mentored the My Care Academy project team and supported the executive board with the project launch in 2017 (BEH NHS, C&I NHS and Middlesex University collaborative project).

2007 - 2022 Faculty staff Mentor and Coach / Supervisor for Advance-HE Fellowship applications

2010 to 2022 - Dual Diagnosis Professional Forum co-lead at BEH NHS Trust for clinical professionals.

2017 - 2022 Faculty Co-panel member for Recruitment and Selection of academic staff. Led on internal induction for new academic staff, conducted staff appraisals/probation reviews and offered coaching to nursing academic staff with the NMC revalidation applications. Also, conducted formal teaching observations of new and existing staff annually.

Achievements:

Co-led and supported the change management/(internal) restructuring of the nursing school to meet the college KPIs and mission.

Awarded various educational tenders from HEE NHS and NHS partner Trusts, and via accreditation (approx. 170K)

Led service user involvement and co-production in the mental health nurse curriculum development, delivery, and student assessments.

Led the development of a new curriculum in mental health training programmes in 2016 for delivery in 2017.
