I am a registered nurse and Associate Professor in the Institute of Health and Social Care School of Nursing and Midwifery. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Nursing, a Masters Degree in Nursing and a Professional Doctorate in Nursing. My main research interest is the link between health and social care, particularly the co-ordination of care for service users, principally care navigation and the role of the care navigator. My Doctoral Thesis ‘Exploring care navigators experience of role’ found empirical evidence regarding the role and identity of the care navigator within the health and social care workforce.

I have experience of teaching a number of health and social care topics. I am a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission.

I have clinical experience in community and secondary care settings in the following specialities:

Care of the older person
