I am the Course Director for the BSc Children's Nursing course within the Institute of Health. I joined LSBU in 2014 having previously worked at Birmingham Children's Hospital as a Clinical Educator in Paediatric Intensive Care. I teach on a variety of modules, particularly focusing on the care of the critically ill child.
I completed my Masters in Education at Birmingham City University in 2014, which enabled me to register as a nurse teacher with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
I have presented research at conferences. I also write and peer review procedures for Clinicalskills.net.

Part of this role is to manage all nursing staff education and development. Work clinically to support nurses in developing their skills and knowledge
Facilitated and delivered the university accredited Foundations of Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing Course, liaising with the local university regularly. This includes undertaking classroom teaching, simulation and clinical teaching. Marking assignments and sitting on exam boards to award credits for the two modules undertaken by candidates. I managed approx 60 staff nurses within their first year on PICU, providing supervision and support both clinically, academically and emotionally.
Lead care for 10 patients n a daily basis, support other staff members
I cared for a range of children and young people within a large PICU. I had experience of caring for people with respiratory, cardiac, renal, burns, neurological injuries or diseases. I completed the foundations in intensive care course, shortly followed by the mentor and assessor’s course and the more advanced intensive care course. I was exposed to caring for children and their families with a number of different healthcare needs. During this time I was seconded to the PICU education team for 18 months.
