I am a Registered Nurse and Lecturer in the Institute of Health & Social Care, teaching within the Adult Nursing Division. I joined LSBU in 2021 from roles of Clinical Nurse Specialist (Nurse Education) in Critical Care and Nurse Educator trust lead for Registered Nurse Apprentices, at University College London Hospitals, having completed nurse training at the LSBU (PGDip Adult Nursing and CPD critical care modules). Other professional experience includes as a civil servant in the Forensic Science Service having originally completed a BSc (Hon) Medicinal & Environmental Chemistry and an MSc Environmental Science with Legislation and Management at Brunel University.

I developed a passion for wellbeing at work during my clinical roles and became a founding member of a team instituted specifically for this purpose in the context of a diverse multicultural workforce and patient population, coupled with inherent healthcare constraints. Our work subsequently won the Intensive Care Society award 2020 for our category ‘Wellbeing and Diversity’ during the pandemic, a morale booster in those particularly dark days. This essential work continues to be instrumental in supporting clinical colleagues and students in practice to create positive workspaces thereby also improving service user experiences and health outcomes.

I bring these experiences to support the learning and development of individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities at LSBU, to fulfil their ambitions as lifelong learners who are competent healthcare professionals and also confident advocates of self and others. As faculty, we intentionally support the wellbeing of learners and colleagues and procure positive learning environments, as this correlates to improved care delivery and outcomes for health care service users, a shared expectation of all stakeholders.

As an early career academician, I am currently involved with writing chapter editorials in nursing textbooks, a research study to understand the individual’s prerequisite knowledge and understanding for effectively working in a multicultural context with regards to communication and the provision of person centered healthcare. I look forward to increasing my research activity to further articulate understanding within this field of nurse education as part of the development of the future nurse.
