I joined LSBU in 2021 after 20 years at City University, London. I teach widely across the pre-registration programme. Currently, I teach a lot of physical mental and health skills and have led on the development of the Virtual Placement expereience.

My interest in physical health care comes from having completed a combined adult and mental health nursing programme at the University of Abertay in the 1990's. Most of my career in mental health nursing was spent working in substance use services and this brought together my knowledge of physical and mental health care.

Having completed a PGDip in drug and alcohol studies and then an MA in academic practice I went on to obtain a PGDip in online learning. I developed an interest in the application of technology to learning. This resulted in an award-winning multi-media learning package around learning disabilities. The proceeds from this ward enabled me to work on a project developing a virtual reality simulation of mental health using video headsets. I also developed an app based on a board game I had put into commercial production that focused on drug use and recovery.
