I am a Specialist Teacher for Autism and Multisensory Impairment with a passion for supporting children and young people with complex needs and disabilities.
I joined LSBU as a Lecturer in 2021, having previously had the opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences as a guest. I teach on the MA (SEND) course within the Education Division.
I studied Drama and Theatre Studies at The Queen’s University of Belfast before moving to London to complete my teacher training (PGCE) at LSBU in 2013. I returned to LSBU to complete an MA in Autism Education before specialising in the education of learners with dual sensory impairments, achieving a PgCert in Multisensory Impairment education at The University of Birmingham.
I am currently continuing my research as a doctoral candidate at LSBU, exploring the authenticity of voice for pupils identified with SEN.
In my 'day job' I am the Learning Support Coordinator for Millennium Integrated Primary in Saintfield, County Down. Millennium is an inclusive mainstream school for children of all abilities including those with complex needs. As an integrated school in Northern Ireland, children and adults from Catholic, Protestant and other backgrounds work and learn together to promote a shared future.
