I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at LSBU researching functional materials.
My primary research is centred on the design, synthesis, and testing of functional thin films with a particular focus on optoelectronic materials such as transparent conductors via chemical vapor deposition routes. Research and development of transparent conductors is interesting and important, not least because they are a vital component of many modern electronic devices such as solar cells and touch screens. I use insights from physics, chemistry and engineering to design thin films providing improved optoelectronic performance (or similar performance but with improved processability and/or making use of more available/environmentally benign constituents) for implementation in devices.
I completed my MSci in Chemistry in 2008 and my PhD in 2012 - both in the Department of Chemistry at University College London. After my PhD I worked in industry for four years as a scientific consultant working on projects ranging from water purification to photovoltaics before returning to UCL as a research fellow. Through my research, I have published over 80 papers in peer reviewed journals and have one granted US patent.
