I first joined LSBU as a PhD Candidate in Public Health in 2019, and I am delighted to have become a staff member in 2022.
I worked previously in open access publishing, the NHS and higher education. I have a BA(Hons) from the University of Oxford, a PgCert in Information Science from City, University of London, and am currently studying for my PhD here at LSBU. I teach health literacy and health promotion to Occupational Therapy students, and public health masterclasses to public health practitioners.
I am an Early Career Researcher attached to the PHIRST London Research Centre, funded by NIHR to evaluate local authority-led public health interventions. So far, I have been involved in evaluations of an advocacy project to reduce the advertising of High Fat, Sugar and Salt foods and Lived Experience-informed community projects to reduce gambling-related harms.
With my other hat on (as I have a dual role), I help coordinate the planning and delivery of masterclasses to support public health practitioners towards UKPHR registration. I am a UKPHR-registered Public Health Practitioner.
My research interests include critical health literacy, involving children and young people in public health research, and settings-based health promotion. I am a member of LSBU's Population Health and Prevention Research group.
I am a chair-in-training for the Health Literacy Working Group within the European Public Health Association (EUPHA).
