I joined LSBU from the German Sport University Cologne (Germany) in March 2017 and I am a Professor of Ageing and Exercise Science at the School of Applied Sciences (Sport and Exercise Science Research Centre).

I finished my PhD in Biomechanics at the German Sport University Cologne in 2006 and I worked from 2005 to 2017 as a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopaedics and at the Institute of Movement and Sport Gerontology, German Sport University Cologne. Furthermore, in between I was an Assistant Professor for Rehabilitation and Prevention at the University of Applied Sciences, Koblenz, Germany.

My main research interest is focused on the plasticity of the musculoskeletal system in response to mechanical loading and physical exercise, and on the interaction between the neural and the motor system during functional activities such as walking and running.

One of my main interests is to provide knowledge for researchers, clinicians and coaches working in the field of the adaptation of the muscle-tendon unit across the adult life span, prevention and rehabilitation of sport related injuries (e.g. ACL, tendon rupture) as well as in the dynamic stability control aimed on reducing the risk of falls in the older population.

I am an author and co-author of more than 80 peer reviewed publications and book chapters, and I have more than 180-conference proceedings.
